Falkirk netted 5 goals to halt Brechin's good run recently.
Brechin put on some early pressure but it was the bairns who took the lead just 3 minutes into the game. Brechin conceded a free kick just outside the box, Russell Latapy's cross was flicked on to Player/manager John Hughes, who was unmarked at the back post to knock it in.
Brechin came close to getting the equaliser, when Ally Mitchell's low drive just went wide of the post. This was one of the few attempts on goal by Brechin yesterday.
Falkirk added a second goal just 7 minutes later when a John Hughes pass was met by Jason Lee, who set up Latapy to net from eight yards.
With only 25 minutes gone, Falkirk scored a third goal and virtually ended the game as a contest. Lawrie passed to Latapy on the edge of the box, who skipped past a couple of defenders and slotted his second goal into the net.
Just 8 minutes from the break, The Bairns added a 4th goal, Brent Rahim had his shot blocked, but the ball fell to Neil Scally, who drilled it into the far corner past Davie Hay.
Brechin introduced Scott McCulloch and Roddy Black at half time as they vastly improved in the 2nd half.
It took Falkirk until the 77th minute to round it all off, when Jason Lee slid in from 6 yards.
This was a big dissapointment for Brechin, who had played some excellent football in the past few games.
Referee- Colin Hardie
BCR's Man Of the Match- Scott McCulloch, despite only being on the field for 45 minutes, he was no doubt the best player on the pitch. He marshalled the defence well in the second half and was not scared to put in tackles.
