Brechin City 2 Stranraer 3
Stranraer opened up a five-point gap over second-bottom Brechin City after a narrow 3-2 victory at Glebe Park.
City opened the scoring after only two minutes when Kevin Byers fired home after shots from Charlie King and Gerry Britton had been blocked, but The Blues rolled up their sleeves and left City reeling when they hit back with three quick goals.
A Murray Henderson header from a Lee Sharp free kick after 12 minutes brought them a deserved equaliser, and the Henderson-Sharp combination did it again three minutes later when Henderson headed home a sharp corner.
The Blues were playing with bags of confidence, and it was no surprise when they scored a third goal in the 19th minute when Allan Jenkins took advantage of a good Michael Moore pass to fire the ball home from close range.
City pushed forward after the break, and a Stuart Callaghan shot went narrowly past the post in the 47th minute.
They gave themselves a lifeline nine minutes later when Byers scored his second goal when he fired home from close range after shots from Gerry Britton and Steven Hampshire had been blocked.
Britton had a half chance to grab a sensational equaliser for Brechin in the 67th minute, but he scooped the ball over the bar under pressure from the Blues defence.
