Brechin are celebrating after clinching the second division title, despite a 1-1 draw with bottom team Berwick. The result also sees the visitors resigned to third division football next season.
It was Berwick who came closest in the first half with both Kevin Gordon and Darren Smith having shots on target.
The deadlock was broken in the 42nd minute with hapless Paul Deas netting past his own keeper Craig Nelson to give the visitors the lead.
The visitors held on until half-time to go in at the interval with a 1-0 advantage.
The second half burst into life with Brechin determijned to get the victory that would confirm the league title. A Charlie King half-volley almost found the net, but Grant McNichol was there to block the effort.
The home side brought on David White for Allie Mitchell after 72 minutes, and Ian Campbell's substitution immediately paid off. White found space on the left to fire past Gary O'Connor and equalise for the home side.
Just moments later Brechin had the ball in the net again, but Grant Johnson's effort was adjudged to be offisde by referee Eddie Smith.
With just four minutes remaining, Berwick goalkeeper O'Connor almost gifted Brechin the points after his goal-kick fell to Graham Gibson, who rounded the keeper before seeing his effort stopped on the line by the outstretched leg of David Murie.
The game finished 1-1, but with Stranraer only managing a draw with Ayr the league title was confirmed and Brechin fans and players celebrated on the pitch after news of the draw seeped through.
