Ryan Wallace's long-range strike seven minutes from time gave East Fife a thrilling 3-2 win at play-off hopefuls Brechin.
Brechin missed numerous first-half chances and were made to pay for their profligacy after 52 minutes, Dylan McGowan slotting home for the Fifers from Ryan Wallace's corner.
But they were level two minutes later, Neil Janczyk centring for James Redman to convert from inside the box.
City were in front after 58 minutes, Craig Molloy scoring a penalty after John Ovenstone's foul on Mitchel Megginson.
However, it was 2-2 with 63 minutes played, Wallace firing home his own spot-kick after he had been brought down by Andrew Cook.
And Wallace's second, a 25-yard effort high into the goal, won it for East Fife.
