Alan Trouten hits debut goal as Brechin edge Stenhousemuir in season-opener
A debut goal from striker Alan Trouten set Brechin on their way to a 2-1 win over Stenhousemuir on the opening day of the Scottish League One season. The hosts looked dangerous in attack from the off, but had to wait until the 35-minute mark to take the lead when Trouten linked up with fellow frontman Andrew Jackson and scored from close range.
Stenhousemuir pushed on and ended the half strongly, before equalising midway through the second half, when defender Fraser Kerr prodded home inside the six-yard box.But their joy was short-lived and Brechin sealed victory on 79 minutes, substitute Ross Caldwell combining with Jackson to score with almost his first touch after replacing Alistair Love.
