On the day where the Championship flag was presented and unfurled, Brechin narrowly lost to promotion hopefuls Accies.
City had the best of the player early on but it was the visitors who took the lead. A neat flowing move that started from defence found it's way to John Roberston (No, not the County manager!) in the box, who calmly struck the ball into the far corner.
At the end of the first half Brechin were completely dominating but somehow Accies soaked up all the pressure and it was still 1-0 Accies at half-time, Brechin fans felt it was only time until City got the equaliser if the first half was anything to go by.
Second half was much the same as the first, City totally dominating possession and chances and eventually City got the equaliser they deserved on the hour mark, as the impressive Grant Johnson struck a sweet right foot strike that flew past Dave McEwan and into the corner.
City went looking for a winner and nearly found it as Charlie King got the ball past the keeper, only to strike the ball into the side netting, half the ground erupted only to find out that it never went in.
However, and somehow, against the run of play Accies got an undeserved winner three minutes into stoppage time to stun the home side who did enough for the share of the spoils at least. Lee Hardy turned inside David White before unleashing a shot which went into the far corner.
On this performance, Brechin are almost definately staying up, all we needed yesterday was a rub of the green and it sadly went to the visitors.
Never mind, you could be supporting the other angus sides. Forfar were totally humped 5-1 down at Gretna and down in the third division, Arbroath drew 2-2 against Albion Rovers and Montrose drew 0-0 with Elgin.
