McNicol, who formerly played for Dunfermline, was on loan at Forfar at the end of last season and Dick Campbell has admitted he is interested in signing the 21 year old defender.
Brechin are no longer interested in signing Arbroath midfielder John Cusick.
Campbell also revealed that he would bring back Darryl Duffy, who has just been released by Rangers, but it's very unlikely as he will probably find a full time club.
